WattsOrbitLAUNCHJun 1, 2026

WattsOrbit ships publicly Friday June 5, 2026

WattsOrbit goes public on Friday June 5 — the May 29 slot slipped one more week so we could finish QA on the new battery-health surface and 80% charge-limit alerts. Same drop date as CloudOrbit.

  • Real-time watts in / watts out
  • Per-USB-device wattage breakdown
  • Battery cycles, temperature, and capacity
  • Smart notifications (weak charger, low battery, 80% charge limit)

Free and open source. MIT.

CloudOrbitNEWJun 1, 2026

CloudOrbit launches Friday June 5, 2026

The first stable build of CloudOrbit drops on Friday June 5 — the May 29 slot slipped one more week to finish the SSO + kubeconfig QA. Same launch window as WattsOrbit.

  • AWS SSO session manager, no terminal needed
  • Auto-updates kubeconfig as you switch profiles
  • Detects EKS clusters from your active session
  • Works behind Cloudflare and corporate proxies

Free, native Rust binary. Sign up to get notified the moment it ships.

DataOrbitNEWMay 27, 2026

DataOrbit launches Monday June 15, 2026

The native DynamoDB GUI for macOS now ships Monday June 15 — moved from May 29 to give the cross-table join engine and live-stream UI a longer soak.

  • Live DynamoDB Streams
  • Cross-table joins (inner / left / left-anti / right / right-anti)
  • Full query history
  • No Electron, no JVM warm-up — pure Rust + Tauri

Free forever. MIT licensed.

Mermaid PreviewUPDATEMay 9, 2026

Mermaid Preview v0.1.2

What's new

  • Bug fixes and stability improvements for JCEF panel
  • Better handling of malformed mermaid blocks (no more frozen preview)
  • Mermaid 10.9.3 bundled — works fully offline / air-gapped
ProxyOrbitTBDMay 27, 2026

ProxyOrbit — public launch later in 2026

ProxyOrbit has slipped off its June 12 slot. The MITM cert chain and Zscaler workaround flow need another QA pass before going public.

  • Capture HTTP/HTTPS from any Mac app
  • Filter by method, status, host, path
  • Real-time request log with body inspection
  • Native Rust + Hyper + Tokio — under 30 MB at idle

No subscription, no $50 license. MIT. Sign up to get notified the moment a date is locked.

BastionOrbitTBDMay 27, 2026

BastionOrbit — public launch later in 2026

BastionOrbit has been moved off its July 3 slot. The auto-expiry TTL flow and multi-bastion connectivity probe need more soak time before going public.

  • One-click port forwarding through bastion hosts
  • Auto-expiry TTL — never leave a tunnel open overnight
  • Multi-bastion management with connectivity probing
  • Pairs with DataOrbit for tunneled DB connections

Real ssh -N -L processes — no protocol reimplementation. Free forever. Sign up for the launch date drop.

WattsOrbitUPDATEMay 20, 2026

WattsOrbit v1.1.0

What's new

  • NewsBell in the tray popup — unread dot and release-notes dropdown
  • News screen in the Dashboard with markdown rendering and pull-to-refresh
  • UpdaterModal replaces the old banner — changelog, download progress, in-app install
  • Homebrew Cask auto-updates on every release publish
DataOrbitTIPMay 14, 2026

Speed up DynamoDB queries with GSIs

Scanning large DynamoDB tables is slow and expensive. Use Global Secondary Indexes to turn full-table scans into targeted key lookups.

In DataOrbit's query builder, open the Index dropdown to pick a GSI — the filter fields automatically update to match the index's partition and sort key.

Always prefer a GSI query over a Scan when you know the access pattern.

GeneralNEWMay 10, 2026

SlothLabs summer releases

Mermaid Preview (JetBrains plugin) is live. Up next: CloudOrbit + WattsOrbit ship together on Friday June 5, then DataOrbit lands on Monday June 15.

klight, ProxyOrbit, and BastionOrbit have all been moved to TBD later in 2026 — we'd rather hold them until they're done than ship to a deadline.

All free, all native, all open source.

WattsOrbitTIPMay 12, 2026

Keep the tray popup open

By default the tray popup hides when it loses focus. Hold ⌥ (Option) while clicking the menu-bar icon and the popup stays pinned — useful when you want to watch wattage drift while you do something else.
